Ghanaian Tomato Traders Caught in Terrorist Attack in Burkina Faso

The Government of Ghana has confirmed that a group of Ghanaian tomato traders has been caught up in a terrorist attack in Burkina Faso.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of the Interior on Sunday, February 15, 2026, the incident occurred on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at Titao in northern Burkina Faso when a truck transporting the traders from Ghana was attacked.

The government described the development as disturbing and said it has begun urgent efforts to ascertain the fate of the affected individuals.

“The Government of Ghana has received disturbing information from Burkina Faso of a truck carrying tomato traders from Ghana which was caught in a terrorist attack in Titao, Burkina Faso,” the statement said.

The Ghana Embassy in Burkina Faso is currently liaising with Burkinabe authorities to visit the attack site, gather full details of the incident, and assist in identifying Ghanaians involved.

Officials say further updates will be provided as investigations continue and more information becomes available.

The Ministry has assured the public that government remains committed to ensuring the safety and welfare of Ghanaian citizens abroad and is working closely with the relevant authorities in Burkina Faso to address the situation.
