The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has donated GH₵40,000 to support the Ghana Sports Fund, a gesture that reinforces the importance of collective effort in developing sports in the country.

The Ghana Sports Funds also aims to improve funding for sports infrastructure and athlete welfare, contributing to a stronger sports ecosystem.

President of the GOC, Richard Akpokavie, Esq., briefed the minister on the organization’s activities, including data collection on athletes and facilities for international competitions, organizing training and capacity-building programs for coaches, athletes, and sports officials, and facilitating scholarships for athletes’ education.

When key institutions step forward to support initiatives aimed at improving sports development, it inspires others to also play their part.

Ghanaian sports need sustained investment, unity, and commitment from all stakeholders: administrators, corporate bodies, government, and individuals.

The minister expressed appreciation for the GOC leadership’s efforts and encouraged them to continue their diligent work to ensure Ghanaian athletes achieve greater success, thereby boosting national sports development.

Hopefully, this gesture from the GOC will encourage more organizations to support the Ghana Sports Fund so that our athletes can receive the resources they deserve to compete and excel on the global stage.

The meeting was attended by key officials, including the Ministry’s Chief Director Mrs. Wilhelmina Asamoah, GOC President Richard Akpokavie, and other representatives from the GOC and various sports federations.
