The Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has officially opened applications for its Undergraduate Local Scholarship scheme for the 2025/2026 academic year.
According to an official announcement, the scholarship is open to Ghanaian students pursuing undergraduate programmes, including Diploma, HND, and Degree courses, in accredited local tertiary institutions. The application window opens on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, and closes on Friday, February 20, 2026.
GETFund explained that all applicants are required to apply online via the official GETFund Scholarship Portal, where they must complete the application form and upload scanned copies of all required documents for vetting and shortlisting. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted after the vetting process has been completed.
The Fund cautioned that all applications must be submitted exclusively through the official portal, stressing that it has not appointed any individual or agency as intermediaries in the scholarship application process. Applicants have therefore been advised to avoid middlemen and report any such persons to the nearest police station.
Meanwhile, GETFund noted that some categories are not eligible to apply under the scheme. These include first-year regular undergraduate students in public tertiary institutions, Diploma students in Colleges of Education, Diploma students in Nursing Training Colleges, and persons with disabilities (PWDs) in public tertiary institutions from undergraduate to postgraduate levels. However, these groups may benefit from other government support initiatives such as the Students Loan Trust Fund and the “No Fees Stress” and PWD support programmes.
Prospective applicants are encouraged to carefully review all requirements and guidelines before submitting their applications to avoid disqualification.
