The Ghana Education Service (GES) has disbursed GH¢15.8 million to cover practical examination fees for all final-year Senior High School (SHS) students sitting the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to a statement from GES, the funds are intended to ensure schools are fully equipped with the materials and resources needed to conduct science, ICT, and other practical assessments smoothly.
Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at GES, explained that the initiative is part of the government’s strategy to ease financial burdens on parents and guardians while creating an enabling environment for students to focus on their academic performance.
“This move is to guarantee a smooth and well-coordinated examination process while relieving families of extra costs,” the statement noted.
GES has urged regional, district, and school authorities to use the funds appropriately and transparently, warning that the service will continue to monitor spending to ensure full compliance.
“Management will continue to monitor the utilisation processes to ensure compliance and to maintain high standards in the administration of the examination,” the statement emphasized.
GES expressed gratitude to all stakeholders and reiterated its commitment to quality education for all students across the country.
