The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that all basic schools across the country will observe their approved midterm break on Monday, March 9 and Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
The break applies to all Kindergarten, Primary, and Junior High Schools nationwide.
A statement issued by the GES Headquarters in Accra and signed by Professor Munawaru Issahaque, Acting Deputy Director-General in charge of Quality and Access, on behalf of the Director-General, said learners are expected to resume academic work on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, to continue their studies.
The statement urged all Regional Directors of Education to communicate the information to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors to ensure that heads of basic schools, teachers, parents, and learners are duly informed.
GES expressed appreciation to stakeholders for their continued cooperation in ensuring the smooth implementation of the academic calendar.
The midterm break forms part of the approved school calendar aimed at providing learners and teachers with rest periods to enhance effective teaching and learning outcomes.
