Former MASLOC CEO arrested, to be extradited to Ghana

The Embassy of Ghana in the United States has confirmed the arrest and detention of Sedina Tamakloe-Atitonu, a former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC).

In an official communication dated January 15, 2026, and signed by Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States, Victor Emmanuel Smith, the Embassy disclosed that the former MASLOC boss is currently being held at the Nevada Southern Detention Center in Pahrump, Nevada.

According to the statement, Mrs. Tamakloe-Atitonu was arrested by the US Marshals on January 6, 2026, and has since been detained at the facility. The Embassy explained that the arrest was carried out pursuant to an extradition request submitted to US authorities sometime in July 2024.

The statement further indicated that the former MASLOC CEO has been placed in detention to await her day in court, in line with the legal processes of the United States.

The communication, addressed to all media houses, did not disclose details of the extradition request but confirmed that the Ghana Embassy is aware of the matter and is monitoring developments as the legal process unfolds.

Mrs. Tamakloe-Atitonu previously served as Chief Executive Officer of MASLOC, a state agency mandated to provide microfinance support to small and medium-scale enterprises in Ghana.
