Fire has gutted a two (2) storey building at Rana Motors off the Graphic road in Accra.
The incident which happened around 7:42pm on January 10, 2023, led to the collapse of parts of the second and first floors of the affected two (2) storey building used for commercial and residential purposes of the company.
According to a post by the Fire Service, 7 pumps including a Turn Table Ladder (TL) were mobilized to fight the fire.
“Tactical operational firefighting was impeded by heavy traffic on the road leading to the affected structure and lack of initial access to the seat of fire”.
“The ground floor and part of the first floor used as a warehouse, four (4) apartments, two (2) each on the first and second floors and their contents were totally burnt”.
The heavy fire was finally extinguished at 2:12am.
“One firefighter who got injured and was sent to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital for treatment is in a stable condition”, it added.
Also, the firefighters managed to salvage “a warehouse containing unspecified amount of rubber products including car tyres and adjoining building including a workshop, a Toyota Company garage and showroom”.
The fire service says the cause of fire remains under investigation
