The 2025 edition of the month-long campaign – popularly known as Orange Goes Green- challenges the Bank, its partners, customers, and the wider public to reimagine their role in building a more sustainable future.

The initiative reflects Fidelity Bank’s growing leadership in integrating climate-smart financing with community-centered actions to promote environmental responsibility and inclusive growth, a press release issued to the Ghana News Agency, Tuesday said.

“Sustainability is no longer a nice-to-have; it’s a necessity,” Mr Julian Opuni, Managing director of Fidelity Bank Ghana, said at the launch, according to the release.

“For us, it’s not just about policies or projects; it’s about strategy and purpose. We are asking hard questions – how are we helping customers adapt to climate risks? “How are we making finance work for everyone, not just a few? And how are we holding ourselves accountable to future generations?”

Mr Opuni explained that this year’s theme, Aligning Finance with Climate Action, encapsulated the Bank’s dual focus on environmental resilience and financial inclusion.

Throughout August, the Bank would  roll out a series of impactful interventions aimed at engaging stakeholders and driving tangible change.

The programme kicks off with a Community Clean-up in partnership with social advocacy group Buz Stop Boys on August 8, and free Electric Vehicle (EV) rides will be offered at key locations in Accra every Tuesday throughout the month to promote low-carbon transport.

Every Friday, staff of Fidelity Bank will observe “Green Fridays”, distributing seedlings at selected branches and following up on the progress of previously planted trees.

The Bank will also lead a nationwide strategic tree-planting exercise in degraded areas to support reforestation efforts.

A dedicated Climate Action Week in mid-August will spotlight the Bank’s green financing solutions, including its Electric Vehicle and Renewable Energy Asset Finance products, designed to empower individuals and businesses to adopt cleaner technologies.

The public will also benefit from weekly webinars on sustainable development, which will be streamed every Wednesday on topics such as waste management, sustainable infrastructure, and climate innovation.

A beach clean-up exercise is scheduled for August 22, reinforcing the Bank’s commitment to environmental preservation and community engagement. Meanwhile, the Bank will also run online sustainability trivia quizzes with prizes to raise awareness and inspire action across social media platforms.

Beyond environmental activities, the campaign will shine a light on social impact through the Creative and Cultural Fund, under the Bank’s Orange Inspire initiative.

This fund provides grants and concessionary loans to support young Ghanaian creatives.

Additionally, the Bank’s Empower All initiative, which champions the inclusion and empowerment of persons with disabilities, will also receive special focus during the month.

The activities will culminate in a flagship sustainability conference, bringing together policymakers, financiers, civil society leaders, and business stakeholders to explore collaborative solutions for a greener, more inclusive future.

Ms Nana Yaa Afriyie Koree, Head of Partnerships, Sustainability and CSR at Fidelity Bank, emphasised the collective responsibility to act decisively.

“We’re challenging ourselves to think differently and lead differently. We believe that small actions, when aligned with purpose, can lead to a big impact. “That’s the spirit of our sustainability journey – and we invite everyone, our customers, our partners, our communities, to walk it with us.”

Fidelity Bank’s sustainability vision is anchored in its core business strategy and seeks to influence systemic change across Ghana’s financial ecosystem.
