Tabitha Ayilla
Tabitha Ayilla has rejected criticisms of the NPP’s economic management, asserting that the party has outperformed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) despite facing tougher global challenges.
Speaking on GHOne TV, she defended the government’s handling of external crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, which she argued had a significant impact on Ghana’s economy.
She acknowledged that vulnerabilities in the economy existed before the pandemic but emphasized that the external shocks, like COVID-19, made it unrealistic to expect the economy to remain unaffected. “You’ll be kidding yourself if you think the economy would still stand on its feet,” she said.
Ayilla further argued that, even without the pandemic, the NPP achieved better economic growth and infrastructure development than the NDC, claiming,
“Even without COVID, the NDC couldn’t give us this type of growth. Even without COVID, the NDC couldn’t keep the lights on for us.”
She concluded by reaffirming her belief that the NPP had successfully navigated the country through challenging times, achieving what the previous administration had not, and that the ruling party’s economic policies were more effective.
