Ernest Norgbey Assures Residents Roads Will Be Built After Drainage Works in Ashaiman

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman, Ernest Henry Norgbey, has assured constituents that contractors will begin working on the road network in Ashaiman after drainage systems are completed.

According to the lawmaker, he underscored that before roads are constructed, the first phase has to do with building drainage networks before bitumen is applied.

He said that Ashaiman has now turned into a construction site; hence, every area under drainage installation will have its roads built soon.

Speaking to Ashaiman Sweet, Hon. Norgbey urged the people of Ashaiman to be rest assured and promised to fix the poor road networks while others will be resurfaced by contractors.

“Every part of Ashaiman has now turned into construction sites. We can’t construct roads without drainage systems. Once it has to do with road construction, the building of drainage systems is done first before bitumen is used on the face and then the finishing. We lobbied for roads and not gutters because you can build roads without construction drainage systems”, he said.

He stressed that all drainage systems under the government initiative that he lobbied for will have bitumen applied to them.

“Anywhere you see a gutter, which is a government project that I have lobbied for, there will be bitumen. So all the drainage construction are all road projects to be done in Ashaiman,” Hon. Norgbey added.

As part of the government’s 2026 plans to improve road networks in the country, the Ashaiman-Akosombo is estimated at a cost of €256 million, as the 64 km Eastern Corridor Road upgrade from Ashaiman to Akosombo Junction.

The project has key features that include a flyover at the Ashaiman Roundabout, a dual carriageway to Kpong, and an interchange at Asutsuare Junction to ease congestion and improve trade connectivity.
