The Ministry of Energy has rejected calls for a load-shedding timetable, saying Ghana’s power supply remains stable despite recent outages.

In a statement on Monday, May 19, 2025, the Ministry responded to pressure from the Minority in Parliament, which had demanded a formal timetable to manage the ongoing power interruptions, widely known as dumsor.
Richmond Rockson, Esq., the Ministry’s spokesperson, insisted that Ghana currently generates enough electricity to meet national demand, even during peak periods.
“While we acknowledge inherited issues within the distribution network, the government and sector players are actively working to fix them,” Rockson said.
He emphasized that the current generation capacity eliminates any justification for load-shedding. “The available capacity is sufficient for peak demand. There’s no reason to issue a timetable now,” the statement read.
The Ministry also reassured Ghanaians of its commitment to long-term solutions and reliable electricity delivery. “We remain fully committed to ensuring consistent power supply for all Ghanaians,” Rockson added.
