Ve Golokuati water crisis to end as Afadzato South MP pulls gov’t support

The Member of Parliament for Afadzato South Constituency, Mr. Frank Afriyie has pulled the central government’s support to end the age-old water crisis at Ve Golokuati – the District capital of Afadzato South in the Volta Region.

In a Facebook post, the MP announced the commencement of the project saying it is the beginning of the end of persistent water challenges in the area.

“I proudly share in the deep excitement and renewed hope of the good people of Ve Golokuati, the capital of the Afadzato South District, as a long-awaited dream finally begins to take shape.

For many years, the community has endured persistent challenges with poor water supply, an unfortunate reality that has contributed significantly to cases of typhoid and other water-related diseases.”

According to him the perennial water crisis has posed hardships which has “affected families, schools, livelihoods, and the overall wellbeing of our people.”

For the outspoken MP, “This [the water project] is more than an infrastructure initiative; it is a life-saving intervention that will restore dignity, improve public health, and unlock development in our district capital.”

WATER AT LAST.
I proudly share in the deep excitement and renewed hope of the good people of Ve Golokuati, the capital of the Afadzato South District, as a long-awaited dream finally begins to take shape.

For many years, the community has endured persistent challenges with poor water supply, an unfortunate reality that has contributed significantly to cases of typhoid and other water-related diseases. This hardship has affected families, schools, livelihoods, and the overall wellbeing of our people.

Before the general elections, I made a firm and clear commitment that, by the grace of God, the Ve Golokuati water challenge would be addressed within my first term as your Member of Parliament. Today, I am proud to say that this promise is no longer just words, it is steadily becoming a reality.

I am pleased to announce that the contractor is officially on site and work has commenced on this critical water project. This is more than an infrastructure initiative; it is a life-saving intervention that will restore dignity, improve public health, and unlock development in our district capital.

Today, 22nd December 2025, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to the chiefs and people of Ve Golokuati for their patience, cooperation, and steadfast support. I also urge all stakeholders to give their full support to the contractor and safeguard this project so it can be completed smoothly, efficiently, and on schedule.
