President John Dramani Mahama has appointed a private legal practitioner and businesswoman, Mrs. Elsie Appau-Klu, to the governing council board of the Ghana National Fire Service.
Mrs. Appau-Klu was recently appointed the Technical Advisor to the Commissioner-General of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
Before joining the public service, she served as the Managing Director of Acreaty Ghana, an HR firm
She is also the Founder and CEO of Ezel Group of Companies.

Elsie Appau is a Ghanaian Lawyer, Human Resources Practitioner, Policy Analyst, Trainer, and Corporate Governance Specialist.
From a humble beginning, growing up in a little village, Sokode-Bagble, in the Volta Region of Ghana, Elsie is today one of Ghana’s young and successful chief executives.
She has led several teams in training public and private stakeholders, particularly interested in Business Sustainability, SME management, and Youth Development.
Elsie has worked for, advised, and consulted for various organisations, including:
- The Netherlands Foreign Affairs Ministry [The Hague, Ghana & West Africa], where she served as a Policy Analyst for Governance, Gender, WASH and Water Governance before being appointed the Business Advisor for West Africa. Through her various roles, Elsie advised on strategic bilateral programmes between the
governments of the Netherlands and Ghana in the Environmental Governance, Water and Sanitation sectors. The MDG3 Fund, GWW, ORIO, GNWP, and NREG are some projects undertaken under the Programme, valued at millions of Euros. - United Nations Development Fund, Ghana & Liberia

Elsie is the Africa Region Representative of Acreaty Management Plc and Managing Director of Acreaty Ghana Limited, a multinational human resources Company. Elsie is the President of the Women’s Economic Forum, which promotes women’s economic development and SMEs.
Elsie serves as the Legal Advisor and Director on the Board of several corporate entities and non-governmental institutions, providing strategic advice. These include:
- Orange Corners — The Netherlands Global Initiative for SME Development Across Asia, Latin America, and Africa.
- FEED Africa — A USA-based company with a focus on Food Security
- African Women Impact- A British Nigeria-based NGO promoting women’s economic and political rights in Africa.
- EVE Medical Foundation- An Initiative of the wife of Asantehene, Lady Julia, to promote
women’s physical and mental well-being. - Women Economic Forum- An International Company established to promote women’s

As an entrepreneur, Elsie, who just turned forty, has business interests in Real Estate, Fashion,
Retail, Events Management, Hospitality and Management Consultancy.
Elsie has obtained a Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, a Bachelor of Laws(LLB) degree from GIMPA, Ghana, a Qualifying Law Certificate from the Ghana School of Law, and a Master of Law (LLM) from the University of Ghana.
Other academic qualifications include a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Private Partnerships from UNESCO IHE- Netherlands, a Post Graduate Diploma in Sustainable Governance from UNESCO IHE- Delft, a Diploma in Leadership from the Cape Town Business School- South Africa, and a Diploma in Sustainability & Business Growth from the University of Stockholm- Sweden.
Elsie has received several awards and recognitions, including 2019/2020 Jack Brewer Fellow (USA), 2019 Top 50 Young CEOs in Ghana, 2019 50 Most Influential Young Ghanaians, 2018 African Achievers Awards (UK), 2017 40 under-Forty Achievers (Ghana), 2016 Best Employee of the Dutch Foreign Affairs Ministry, 2010 Best Employee making an impact- Netherlands Embassy, and the 2007 Youth-led development achiever- Liberia.
Elsie has trained hundreds of business owners, particularly SMEs, as a trainer and facilitator.
