The Assembly Member for the Leklebi Agbesia–Fiafe-Wobey Electoral Area, Mr. Joseph Kofi Gakpo, is appealing to govenment to pay equal attention to Wobey, a farming community in the Afadzato South District, saying it is the food basket of the district.
Speaking at the maiden edition of the Wobey Dunanyo Festival, the outspoken Assembly Member said:
“My community, Wobey, is only acknowledged during election periods, and that is all. Our school has been closed for years, the only CHIPS compound at Blimado has been shut down, and voters in this community struggle to access quality healthcare and education.”
“We are imploring you to reopen the health center. We urgently require a nurse to be posted to the facility as soon as possible. Several health issues should be addressed here if this health center is operational,” he appeals to the DEC and the MP.

Wobey Dunanyo Festival 2025
I would like to express my sincere appreciation to the organizers for their tireless efforts in coordinating this program. Please do not relent in your endeavors.
Honorable MP, Honorable DCE, my community is predominantly a farming community, serving as the food basket for Afadzato and beyond, yet it receives minimal attention.
My community, Wobey, is only acknowledged during election periods, and that is all. Our school has been closed for years, the only chips compound at Blimado has been shut down, and voters in this community struggle to access quality healthcare and education. We are imploring you to reopen the health center. We urgently require a nurse to be posted to the facility as soon as possible. Several health issues should be addressed here if this health center is operational.
Honorable DCE, Honorable MP, it is feasible to construct a road to this location (Leklebi Wobey). This community is no different from Logba Tota, Nyagbo Sroe, and others. We find it challenging to transport our farm produce to markets in Afadzato South.
I am already aware that Honorable DCE is working on solar, and I will leave that for him to elaborate on.
It is my fervent hope that your presence here will contribute significantly to the development of Wobey, Blimado, Alieta, Akpadafe, and its environment.
I have confidence in you, Honorable DCE Manfred Tawiah, Honorable MP Frank Afriyie, and the hardworking regional minister, Honorable James Gunu, that Wobey in Leklebi of Afadzato will also benefit from President John Dramani Mahama’s resetting agenda.
Also crucial is job creation for the youths; my people here in Wobey have not been given opportunities.
Honorable MP and DCE, Wobey and its environment are farming communities; please remember us when distributing farm inputs like fertilizers and agrochemicals.
May God continue to protect you in all your endeavors.
Thank you all for coming.
