Efo Worlanyo writes: Ken Ofori-Atta and the Kweku Ananse Story

Ken Ofori-Atta says he doesn’t take salary and per diem, as finance minister?

Once upon a time, Kweku Ananse and his five kids were hit by severe famine. Being the finance minister of his home, Kweku Ananse travelled far and wide in search for food for his family.

Fortunately, he discovered a solitary plantain plant with five fingers of plantain on it. He harvested, sent it home and cooked for the family. To the shock of his kids, he gave each a finger and because they were five, Kweku Ananse himself did not get any.

“My kids, please, have you seen the sacrifices I have been doing for you? Have you seen that I did not get any of the plantain?”, Kweku Ananse asked.

His kids, having sympathy for their dad, enquired what they could do to help him. “Give me half of your plantain each so that I can also eat.” He appealed to them. All his five kids obliged and gave half of their plantain to him.

Kweku Ananse took them, and consumed accordingly. You can see from the story that he got more than his five kids combined.

Can Ken Ofori-Atta explain to Ghanaians how his Databank, from 1990 to 2016(26 years) only had GHS 1.8 billion Assets Under Management, but when he became finance Minister in 2017, his bank’s AUM jumped all of a sudden to GHS 7. 6 billion within four years?

How and where did he get that kind of money to buy Enterprise Group and became the majority shareholder?
The Trust Bank of the Gambia?
