Chief Executive of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Edudzi Kudzo Tameklo, has extended a remarkable gesture of support to an elderly woman in Cape Coast who operates a 24-hour local food joint boldly branded in the colours of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
A party member delivered the GHc10,000 donation after a viral video of the woman, identified as Madam Ekua, drew widespread attention on social media. The video highlighted her dedication, entrepreneurial spirit, and her symbolic alignment with the government’s flagship 24-hour economy initiative.
In the footage, Madam Ekua was seen running her round-the-clock eatery with unwavering energy, proudly displaying NDC colours and expressing her readiness to contribute to the national development agenda. Her commitment drew admiration across the party’s grassroots and supporters online.
According to a statement shared by Mr. Afeavo Patrick Kwesi on his official Facebook page, the NPA CEO was deeply moved by the woman’s initiative, describing her as “a true embodiment of resilience, patriotism, and grassroots support for the transformational 24-hour economy vision.”
The donation, he explained, is meant to strengthen her business operations and encourage other small-scale entrepreneurs to take advantage of the emerging opportunities under the policy.
Party supporters have since commended Edudzi Tameklo for the intervention, praising it as a practical example of leadership that uplifts ordinary citizens and reinforces the government’s commitment to empowering local businesses.

Madam Ekua reportedly expressed profound gratitude for the unexpected support, describing it as a major boost that will help her expand her operations and better serve her community.
The heartwarming gesture has added to ongoing public discussions around the 24-hour economy policy, with many calling it a clear demonstration of how ordinary citizens can actively contribute to and benefit from the initiative.
