Declare assets by May 7 or face dismissal — Mahama tells appointees

In a bid to uphold transparency and accountability within the new NDC administration, President John Dramani Mahama has issued a stern warning to all government appointees who have failed to comply with asset declaration laws.

President John Mahama has set a firm deadline of May 7, 2025, for appointees to declare their assets, warning that those who fail to meet this requirement will face dismissal from their positions.

The directive follows an earlier deadline of March 31, which some appointees failed to meet, prompting Mr. Mahama to take decisive action.

Speaking at the launch of the Code of Conduct for government appointees in Accra on May 5, Mahama underscored the gravity of the issue, emphasizing that no one would be exempt from the consequences of non-compliance.

“If by close of day, Wednesday, 7th May 2025, any of you still fails to declare your assets, count yourself automatically dismissed because when it comes to protecting the integrity of this government, I will not compromise,” Mahama declared, his words resonating with a sense of determination and resolve.

In addition to the threat of dismissal, Mahama announced financial sanctions for defaulters.

Those who missed the March deadline will be required to forfeit three months’ salary and make a one-month mandatory donation to the MahamaCares Fund.
