Daniel Gidi leads NADMO, Fire Service, Forestry to intensify environmental education in Akatsi South

The government’s commitment to environmental protection and community safety was once again demonstrated as the Mr. Daniel Gidi–led NADMO team, together with officials from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Forestry Commission, embarked on a major sensitization tour across selected Electoral Areas in the Municipality.

The exercise, which is part of a broader government-backed initiative to curb environmental degradation, focuses on educating residents on: The dangers of indiscriminate bush burning, The harmful use of poisonous chemicals in local water bodies, The illegal cutting of trees without permits

The team made a significant stop in Sremanu in the Wuxor, Have, and Sremanu Electoral Area, where they were hosted by the Assemblymember of the Area, Hon. Japhet Festus Gbede, who shared details of the outreach on his official Facebook page. He described the engagement as “highly impactful,” noting that residents received the message with seriousness and enthusiasm.

According to Mr. Gbede, the strong turnout and positive response from community members is clear evidence that government-led interventions are reshaping public attitudes and promoting a new sense of environmental responsibility.

During the sensitization, NADMO Director Mr. Daniel Gidi reminded residents about the need to keep their environment clean, avoid practices that endanger community safety, and comply with environmental regulations. He assured the people of Sremanu that his office remains open, accessible, and ready to support the public at all times.
Assemblymember Japhet Festus Gbede praised the NADMO, Fire Service, and Forestry teams for their dedication, describing their visit as timely and transformative.

He emphasized that the knowledge shared will go a long way in shaping the mindset of residents and strengthening ongoing government efforts to build a safer, cleaner, and more environmentally conscious Akatsi South.

“Such engagements reinforce the government’s determination to protect our communities and empower citizens with the right information,” he added.
