CROSSFIRE GHANA CONGRATULATES BROGYA GENFI

Following the outcome of the CHRAJ investigations on the bond issued on behalf of the government of Ghana by the finance ministry, we want to congratulate the petitioner, Mr Brogya Genfi for such a patriotic action. Your decision and zeal to follow the due process thereby protecting the larger interest of Ghana was a very welcoming decision.

We have no reason but to believe that the commission was at her professional best in executing this constitutional task and arriving at this judgement.

The commission’s report indicted the ministry of finance of wrong doing in the issuance of the bond in question. The commission was explicit clear on the constitutional violation that characterised that very important activity.

We are optimistic that the government through the finance ministery will as a matter of urgency take steps to address the breaches as contained in the report.

We wish to further appeal to the president of the Republic, to exercise his goodwill authority by making a request of the finance minister to explain to the people of Ghana the reason for those breaches cited by the commission since this report creates a reputation crises for Ghana’s profile on the international bond market.

In congratulating Mr. Brogya Genfi, it is our hope that such avoidable mistakes by government officials are kept low to preserve the reputation of the country with the international community.

Signed

Nana Osei Tutu. (Convener crossfire Ghana)
