Accra, Aug. 5, GNA – The upcoming Ghana Football Association (GFA) Ordinary Congress will consider extending the term limit for the association’s presidency position.

This comes after a proposal from GFA’s Statute Review Committee recommending an increase in the presidential term from two to three terms.

Excerpts of the proposed amendment cited by GNA Sports states that the “change of the term limit of the President from two to three terms, is to align with CAF and FIFA Statutes. Secondly, to conform to the three terms of the Vice Presidents and Members of the Executive Council.”

Also, there was a proposed amendment by the Statute Review Committee to make the Women’s Premier League representative on the Executive Council the automatic second GFA Vice President.
The GFA Statute Review Committee’s proposal to extend the GFA’s Presidential term has been met with criticism from some elements of the sports media.
However, the final decision on the matters raised above would be determined at the congress set for Tuesday, August 12, 2025, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram.
