Information from a reliable source within the Zongo Community indicate that preparation is on going to indefinitely suspend Sheikh Armiyaw Shaibu as the advisor to the National Chief Imam.
According to the source, series of meetings was held on Thursday and Friday for the final determination of whether or not to suspend Sheikh Armiyaw Shaibu of his position at office of the National Chief Imam.
The source revealed that many were those who oppose the move by the advisory board to suspend him due to their involvement in the issue that has led to his pending suspension.
The source further revealed that the advisory board of the Chief Imam is under pressure from various sects and Muslim organizations calls on the office to sack Sheikh Armiyaw Shaibu over is biase on National issues and his rampant use of the National Chief Imam’s office for his parochial political interest.
According to the source, members of the Council of Zongo Chiefs is divided over the decision of suspending Sheikh Armiyaw Shaibu due to the nature of the issue which some of the members of the council believes it is political.
The source added that the division among the Council of Zongo Chiefs was as a result of their relationship with the Minister of Inna Citi and Zongo Development, Sheikh Dr. Mustapha Hamid which have been a life wire to some Chiefs intense of financial support.
This the source stated that it has put fear into some Chiefs that supporting the suspension of Sheikh Armiyaw Shaibu may end their relationship with the Zongo Minister as well loss some juicy promises made by the Minister to the Council.
According to the source, Sheikh Armiyaw Shaibu upon hearing the motive behind the said meeting placed a call to a member of the advisory board threatening to expose Chiefs and Members of the advisory board who are his accomplish.
It will be recall that Some Muslim clerics from different sects and organizations within the Muslim and Zongo communities called for the removal of Sheikh Armiyaw Shaibu as an advisor to the National Chief Imam of Ghana, Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.
According to the clerics, Sheikh Armiyaw Shaibu has also exposed himself to politics and it is sinking the hard-won reputation of the National Chief Imam and his office.
And blamed Sheikh Armiyaw of facilitating the Vice President Dr. Mahmoud Bawumia’s thanksgiven at the Abossey Okai Central Mosque despite being aware the opposition party’s refusal to accept the election results declared by the Electoral Commission Chairperson.
