Dr. Bryan Acheampong, MP for Abetifi and former Food and Agriculture Minister, has formed a team to explore a potential New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential bid.

In a statement issued on May 29, 2025, he revealed that the decision follows growing support from party members and consultations with his family and close associates.
The exploratory committee will meet with grassroots members, stakeholders, and constituents across the country. Their goal is to assess whether his vision aligns with the expectations of the party and the nation. The group will deliver its report in four weeks.
“This team shares my commitment to party unity, job creation, food security, and strong governance,” he stated.
Dr. Acheampong also reflected on his political journey. He noted that his roles, as grassroots organizer, party staffer, four-term MP, cabinet minister, and financier, have given him vital experience. These experiences, he said, prepared him for leadership and party development.
He reaffirmed his loyalty to the NPP and expressed confidence in its future.
“To all NPP faithful and foot soldiers, I believe we can rise above our challenges and lead Ghana to a brighter future,” he said. “Let’s remain focused, united, and committed to inclusive, effective leadership. May God guide us.”
