Black Sherif earns spot at Emirates Stadium with new song ‘Where Dem Boyz’

Ghanaian music is once again making global headlines as rising star Black Sherif earns a spot on one of football’s grandest stages — the Emirates Stadium in North London.

The chart-topping artist’s new single, “Where Dem Boyz,” off his latest album, Iron Boy, was played during the pre-match warmup at the UEFA Champions League quarter-final match between Arsenal and Real Madrid, marking another iconic moment for Ghanaian sound on the international scene.

The event, which took place ahead of the much-anticipated first-leg clash, sparked widespread celebration among fans across the globe, especially in Ghana, where Black Sherif’s career has been followed with keen interest.

Released just weeks ago, Iron Boy has been praised for its lyrical depth and bold sonic experimentation.

The album’s standout track, “Where Dem Boyz,” has quickly gained momentum and is now being acknowledged on international platforms — a testament to the artist’s growing influence.

Social media erupted in excitement following the stadium play, with fans posting video clips and reactions.

For many, the moment was more than just a song being played at a football match — it was symbolic of how far Ghanaian music has come and the growing respect African artists are commanding in global entertainment spaces.

Black Sherif, whose real name is Mohammed Ismail Sherif Kwaku Frimpong, first burst onto the scene with his breakout track “Second Sermon” in 2021.

Since then, his fusion of drill, highlife, and raw storytelling has made him one of the most authentic and compelling voices in the African music scene.

The Emirates moment now places him among a select group of Ghanaian musicians whose work has received international mainstream acknowledgment, not just in music charts but in cultural arenas such as sports and entertainment.

This milestone is especially notable considering the prominence of the UEFA Champions League — one of the most-watched sporting events worldwide.

Having his music played at such a prestigious venue signals not only personal achievement but also progress for the entire Ghanaian and African music industry.
