Black Princesses Beat South Africa 1–0 to Advance in FIFA U-20 World Cup Qualifier

Ghana’s Black Princesses posted a hard-fought 1-0 victory over their South African counterparts in the FIFA U-20 World Cup qualifier on Sunday in South Africa.

The win propels the Princesses to the next stage of the World Cup qualifiers, keeping alive their quest for another appearance on the global stage.

The first leg ended in a 2-2 stalemate, securing a 3-2 on aggregate in the return leg on Sunday at the Nelspruit-Mbombela Stadium.

The first half ended scoreless, but Ghana asserted control after the break.

Midfielder Priscilla Mensah proved decisive, striking in the 63rd minute to seal qualification for the West Africans to secure a crucial victory for Ghana.

Head coach Charles Simpson fielded a strong lineup, determined to respond after a frustrating opening encounter, and his side delivered when it mattered most.

Ghana will now prepare for a potential clash against either Zambia or Uganda in the next qualifying round.

The Black Princesses are targeting a record-extending eighth consecutive appearance at the tournament, which is scheduled to be hosted in Poland in September 2026.
