Heads of basic schools in the country have been asked to be vigilant in running their schools as the rainy season starts.
Kofi Asare, Executive Director of the education think tank, Africa Education Watch, urged school heads to be conscious of the weather changes before releasing pupils to go home when school closes.
According to him, schoolchildren must always get home from school safely no matter what. As a result, he said it is necessary to send caution out there so those concerned can take note.
“The Rains are in,” he said in a social media post sighted by Awakenewsroom.
“Basic School Heads, kindly study the weather before closing. The kids must be safe on their way home,” the Africa Education Watch boss said.
Ghana is currently experiencing rainfall in varying forms. Some rainfalls are accompanied by windstorms or thunderstorms which pose a threat to whoever is caught up.
Severe windstorms can cause structural and building collapse, which reason it is advisable to seek shelter when such weather changes are detected
