The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has announced a series of nationwide activities to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the cedi, Ghana’s national currency. The celebrations will officially begin in August 2025, although the anniversary date falls on July 19, 2025.

Themed “60 Years of the Cedi: A Symbol of Sovereignty, Stability and Economic Resilience,” the commemorative events will kick off with a launch at the Accra International Conference Centre. This will be followed by a collaboration with the National Museum of Science and Technology, including mobile exhibitions highlighting the currency’s evolution.
