Ban importation of ‘Red’ to protect youth – Ras Kuuku to gov’t

Reggae/Dancehall artiste Kojo Kurankye, popularly known as Ras Kuuku, has called on the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and the government to ban the importation of illicit drugs, especially a substance called “Red.”

During a visit to Akyem Mouso in the Atiwa West District, Ras Kuuku voiced his concern to Adom News’ Kwasi Azor about the rising abuse of such substances.

He warned that the influx of “Red” and other harmful drugs is devastating young people both physically and mentally.

Ras Kuuku said the situation poses a serious threat to public health and national development, as many young Ghanaians are falling into addiction due to easy access to these drugs.

He urged the FDA and border authorities to step up surveillance and tighten controls at entry points to block these substances.

Beyond stricter enforcement, Ras Kuuku asked the government to tackle the root causes of drug abuse by creating more jobs for the youth, especially in agriculture.

He believes making farming attractive and profitable would curb youth unemployment and steer many away from drugs.

Ras Kuuku emphasized that empowering the youth with viable economic opportunities remains one of the best ways to fight the growing substance abuse crisis in Ghana.
