The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned alleged incidents of bribery and vote buying that reportedly occurred during the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency.

In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat on February 7, 2026, the NDC disclosed that the attention of its national executives had been drawn to widespread reports of inducement allegedly carried out by some aspirants during the primaries held in the constituency.

The party described the alleged acts as unacceptable and inconsistent with its core values and principles, as well as the reform agenda it continues to promote. According to the statement, such practices undermine internal democracy and the integrity of the party’s electoral processes.

The NDC further announced that it has immediately initiated a full-scale investigation into the matter and assured members and the public that swift disciplinary action would be taken against any candidate found culpable.

Additionally, the party cautioned that stricter sanctions could be introduced in future, including the possible cancellation of elections should similar incidents be reported and confirmed.

The statement was signed by the NDC General Secretary, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
