The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, has urged residents of Ayawaso East to flood the various polling stations in their numbers to vote for the party’s parliamentary candidate, Baba Ali Yussif, in the March by-election.
Speaking during a community engagement, Boakye urged voters to choose the NPP candidate, stressing his deep local roots and understanding of the community’s realities.
He stressed that Baba Ali has served the constituency with responsive leadership and stronger representation in Parliament.
“Baba Ali Yussif is your brother. He sleeps with you, he wakes up with you, and he has taught in this constituency before. He was born here; the food you all eat is the same food he eats.
“Don’t bring in any stranger. This is your brother. As you see him here, even after you vote for him, he will still be here, available and with you,” he said in pidgin.
He maintained that Baba Ali is not selective and would ensure that every resident benefits from opportunities and development initiatives that may come to the constituency.
The Electoral Commission will on Tuesday, March 3, hold a by-election in the Ayawaso East Constituency following the death of MP Nasser Toure Mahama in January.
Baba Ali is facing a strong contest against NDC’s Baba Jamal, who left his post as Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria to contest the seat.
