Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, will publicly address the discontinued uniBank prosecution and the government’s broader asset recovery efforts during the next session of the Government Accountability Series on Monday, July 28, 2025.
The announcement was made by Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who posted the update on Facebook.
He noted that Dr. Ayine will provide clarity on the controversial nolle prosequi entered on July 22, 2025, in the high-profile criminal case involving former Finance Minister Dr. Kwabena Duffuor and seven others.
According to Mr. Ofosu, Dr. Ayine will also offer a progress report on Operation Recover All Loots (ORAL), the government’s anti-corruption drive aimed at retrieving misappropriated public funds. Additionally, he will present details of a new legal matter, which he has described as “Rumble in the Jungle.”
The Attorney-General’s briefing comes amid mounting public scrutiny following the decision to drop charges in the Republic v. Kwabena Duffuor & 7 Others (CR/0248/2020).
The case was one of several tied to Ghana’s 2018 financial sector cleanup, which sought to prosecute alleged financial crimes and recover funds from collapsed institutions.
Meanwhile, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah, is expected to appear today to present updates on the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).
