Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, has issued a bold challenge to musician-turned-politician Kwame Asare-Obeng, popularly known as A Plus, following corruption allegations made against him.
Addressing the media at a press briefing on Wednesday, April 30, Dr. Ayine firmly denied the claims and demanded that A Plus provide credible evidence or report him to the police.
“I was never involved in the passage of the sanitation levy as I was not a member of the Finance Committee of Parliament, let alone being in a position to influence the committee’s decisions,” Dr. Ayine clarified, rejecting suggestions that he had influenced parliamentary financial decisions.
Dr. Ayine also addressed allegations that he accepted campaign donations from East Legon businessman Dr. Slege and received pickups for his campaign.
Calling the claims baseless, he pointed out, “If receiving campaign donations or getting a pickup amounts to thievery or corruption, then there are 276 thieves in Parliament, including the one making the allegation.”
Issuing a direct challenge, Dr. Ayine said, “If A Plus has any evidence of corruption or thievery against me, I am challenging him today to call a press conference and present the evidence or present it to the police to investigate me.”
