Atiku Abubakar distances himself from son’s defection to APC

Former Vice President of Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar, has stated that the decision of his son, Abba Abubakar, to join the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is a purely personal choice and does not reflect his own political stance.

In a statement shared on his official Facebook page, Atiku noted that in a democratic society, such decisions are neither unusual nor alarming, even when they involve close family members. He stressed that he does not coerce his children or any Nigerian in matters of political conscience.

The former vice president, however, expressed deep concern about what he described as the poor governance record of the APC, blaming it for the severe economic and social hardships facing Nigerians.

Atiku reaffirmed his commitment to working with like-minded patriots to restore good governance in Nigeria, promising to offer citizens a credible alternative that delivers relief, hope, and progress.
