Have-Fiakpokorpe in the Wuxor, Have, and Sremanu Electoral Area received a major boost to basic education on Saturday, January 10, 2026, as the Rural Youth Network, led by its Executive Director, Madam Edna Attah, donated over 140 pairs of footwear and sandals and hundreds of school bags to pupils in the community.
The donation exercise, facilitated and led by the Assemblymember for the area, Japhet Festus Gbede, forms part of efforts to improve learning conditions and expand access to education in the deprived farming community. The intervention is expected to reduce the financial burden on parents while enhancing school attendance, confidence, and dignity among schoolchildren.
Welcoming the delegation, Mr. Gbede described the support as timely and impactful, stressing that such initiatives play a critical role in safeguarding the future of children in underserved areas. He noted that the gesture reflects the collective responsibility of stakeholders to ensure that no child is denied education due to economic hardship.
The Assemblymember used the occasion to commend Mr. Dickson Assan for recommending the Wuxor, Have, and Sremanu Electoral Area for the intervention and for personally facilitating the engagement that led to the donation, describing his role as a strong demonstration of commitment to community development and child welfare.
Speaking to the media, Mr. Japhet Festus Gbede disclosed that the donation also serves as his New Year gift to pupils within the electoral area, reaffirming his commitment to prioritising education and the well-being of children.
On behalf of the people of the electoral area, Hon. Gbede expressed heartfelt appreciation to Madam Edna Attah and the entire Rural Youth Network team for choosing Have-Fiakpokorpe and for their meaningful investment in education and youth empowerment.
