Ashigbey appointed CEO of Chamber of Mines

The Ghana Chamber of Mines has appointed Ing. Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective June 1, 2025. This decision marks a fresh leadership direction to drive innovation and sustainability in the mining sector.

Meanwhile, the former acting CEO, Ahmed Dasana Nantogmah, will now serve as the Chamber’s first-ever Chief Operating Officer. His appointment underscores the Chamber’s efforts to enhance operational efficiency and deliver strategic goals.

Dr. Ashigbey brings much experience from the media, telecommunications, and engineering sectors. Previously, he led the Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications for nearly eight years. Thanks to his diverse background, he is well-positioned to guide the Chamber through industry reforms and global shifts in mining governance.

As CEO, Dr. Ashigbey will focus on strengthening policy advocacy and stakeholder collaboration. He aims to support sustainable growth and ensure the mining industry meets modern environmental standards.

On the other hand, Nantogmah’s new role as COO places him in charge of internal operations. With years of experience in policy and stakeholder engagement, he is expected to ensure the Chamber’s strategies are effectively executed.

Michael Edem Akafia, President of the Chamber, welcomed the appointments, saying, “The leadership of Ashigbey and Nantogmah will shape a bold future for Ghana’s mining industry.”

These changes come at a time when the sector is prioritizing local value addition, responsible resource use, and improved community impact.
