Ashanti Regional Minister Frank Amoakohene denies attack after Adum fire incident

Ashanti Regional Minister Frank Amoakohene has firmly denied claims that he was attacked by an angry individual following the devastating fire that swept through shops in Adum, Kumasi.

The fire, which occurred earlier yesterday, left several businesses in the bustling district gutted and caused widespread damage.

In the aftermath of the blaze, there were reports suggesting that Amoakohene had been confronted by some individuals affected by the fire, but the Minister quickly took to social media to refute these claims.

Amoakohene addressed the situation by clarifying the misinformation in a post on Instagram, stating, “I have received numerous calls regarding a false publication by @JoyPrimetv on Instagram claiming I was attacked by a gentleman at PZ.” He strongly dismissed the report as “entirely untrue and a needless false alarm,” reassuring the public that he was safe and in good health. “I am safe and sound and I am not the person in the said video. Kindly disregard the misinformation,” he added.

The Minister’s statement comes after Joy Prime TV aired a report suggesting that Amoakohene had been confronted by some people affected by the fire, which caused significant damage in Adum, Kumasi. The false claim quickly spread, prompting calls from concerned individuals to confirm his safety.

Authorities are still in the process of assessing the full extent of the damage caused by the fire, which ravaged several shops and left many business owners devastated.

Firefighting teams, along with law enforcement, are continuing to investigate the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this time.

The incident has brought to light the importance of ensuring accurate information is shared, especially in times of crisis.

As investigations proceed, both government officials and the public have been urged to refrain from spreading unverified news, which can only serve to cause further confusion and distress.

The Minister’s quick response to the false report has reassured the public that he remains unharmed and committed to supporting recovery efforts in the aftermath of the fire.

The government continues to monitor the situation closely and is expected to provide further updates as more details emerge.
