Grassroots athletes, especially young goalkeepers in Ashaiman playing in the colts league, will receive goalkeeping gloves from the “SAVE THE GOAL” project.
Powered by Greg Sports Consult Ghana Limited, the initiative is aimed at supporting grassroots athletes, with a focus on both male and female goalkeepers across the country.
Speaking to Awakenews, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Greg Sports Consults Ghana Limited, Mr. Jacob Klins Martin, said the program seeks to motivate athletes to strive for international standards, inspired by the exemplary performance of Benjamin Asare, a local goalkeeper who plies his trade with Hearts of Oak and is a member of the Black Stars of Ghana national team.
He mentioned that, together with the President of Greg Sports Consult, Mr. Greg Azaglo, the team will embark on a nationwide tour to visit clubs where lucky goalkeepers will be presented with a pair of gloves to support their journey.
“I got some gloves from some of the clubs I visited, and I want to give them out to goalkeepers who are lucky during our nationwide tour,” he said.
According to Mr. Klins Martin, the tour is scheduled to kickstart in Tamale on 20th April and will run for the next eight months until December 2026.
He added that the team will be on the lookout for lucky goalkeepers, while priorities will be given to needy goalkeepers as well.
Mr. Klins Martin emphasized that Ashaiman is among the areas the team will visit in the coming days, advising goalkeepers to prepare for representatives from Greg Sports Consults during Monday Special Community Games and their respective club training grounds.
