Mugabe Maase, General Manager of Power FM
The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) and President Mahama have come under fire from Ghanaian journalist and host of Inside Politics, Mugabe Maase, for failing to include journalists from pro-NDC media outlets in key political appointments.
The loud-mouthed broadcaster who is also the General Manager of Power FM claims that the government is compensating reporters from media houses that contributed little to the party’s 2024 election campaign.
In a widely shared viral video on social media, Mugabe said on his show on TV XYZ that the government had unfairly ignored the numerous pro-NDC journalists who put in countless efforts to guarantee the party’s comeback to power.
“Doesn’t Bobie Ansah deserve a position in Mahama’s administration? When we were working for the party, where were the Joy FM and TV3 employees who have now been assigned appointments? Does the government remember the Radio Gold workers? You’re appointing people from Multimedia and TV3, but staff from Radio Gold, Accra FM, and the likes of Bobie Ansah have been overlooked,” he said.
He fired, “When you required power, you contacted me, Mugabe, at 1 a.m. to travel to Kumasi, Tamale, and Winneba. During the NDC manifesto launch in Winneba, I had to sleep on the bare floor, which was bad for my health, and I had to rush back to Accra, missing the programme. You’ve abandoned your foot soldiers and grassroots. How can a journalist from XYZ attend a government event and be informed he was not invited? I will shake the foundation without fear or favour.”
“How is it conceivable that the president has forgotten about Samuel Sarpong when making appointments? You only hear the names of persons who never worked for the party that is being appointed to government. Where are those who worked for the party’s victory? I’m not looking to build a house or buy land. I don’t envy anyone, but you all should do the right thing. About 15 journalists have been employed, while some, such as Bobie Ansah, have been ignored. You have forgotten about the journalists at Accra FM, Ahotor FM, and Class FM.”
