Apex Ghana has raised some concerns that it described as threatens the peace, stability, and international reputation of Ghana.
In a media briefing, lead Convener Nana Prempeh Agyemang highlighted concerning events in recent months. On July 24, 2025, CitiNews reported that the Ghana Immigration Service apprehended 50 Nigerian nationals involved in cybercrime and money laundering schemes targeting Ghana’s international partners, including Germany, the United Kingdom, the USA, and Canada.
He emphasized that these criminal activities not only harm the economy but also tarnish Ghana’s global standing. On July 1, 2025, the BBC reported that 76 Ghanaians were rescued by the Ghana Police Service after being trafficked to Nigeria through a fraudulent recruitment scheme.
More recently, a German citizen was defrauded in Ghana by foreign criminals using counterfeit Ghanaian identities and passports. This situation not only brings embarrassment to the nation but also fosters distrust towards legitimate citizens traveling abroad.
These troubling developments illustrate that crime transcends borders, and their repercussions affect everyone. If not addressed promptly, they could lead to serious international consequences, including stricter limitations on Ghanaians seeking education, business, or travel opportunities abroad.
Ghanaians will bear the brunt of these criminal activities and the damage to Ghana’s international image, which portrays our peaceful nation as unwelcoming to foreign investors and tourists, thus hindering economic growth opportunities.
Moreover, these issues expose Ghanaian citizens to exploitation and trafficking, depriving our youth of their future. By threatening our national peace and sovereignty, certain foreign groups, particularly from Nigeria, are attempting to establish themselves illegally within our communities and traditional systems.
As patriotic citizens, they urge the Government of Ghana and relevant authorities to take the following urgent actions:
1. Immediate repatriation of all undocumented foreigners.
2. Strengthening border controls and immigration systems.
3. Enforcing the removal of foreigners from Ghana’s retail market in accordance with the law.
4. Immediate deportation of the so-called “Igbo King,” who lacks legal or traditional authority in Ghana.
5. Stopping unauthorized foreign festivals and celebrations that undermine Ghana’s sovereignty.
6. Expatriation of self-styled foreign sub-chiefs who assume roles in our traditional systems without approval.
As a peaceful country known for its hospitality and unity, Ghana welcomes all who come legally. They call on the Government, Parliament, and security forces of Ghana to unite in defense of our nation.
