Anloga MP and SIGRA inspect Agriculture Project at Fuveme

Fuveme (VR), July 26,GNA-Madam Seyram Sandra Kpedor, the Anloga District Chief Executive (DCE) in the Volta Region, has led a team of individuals of Strengthening Investments in Gender-Responsive Climate Adaptation team, (SIGRA) to inspect a proposed site for an aquaculture project in the Fuveme community.

The move was to empower residents and women, who were especially affected by climate change in coastal areas within the district.

Madam Kpedor during the inspection tour said that the aquaculture project, which include promotion of climate resilience seek to provide sustainable livelihood opportunities for the people of Fuveme and the surrounding communities.

“The focus is on the women, the initiative aimed to address the specific challenges they faced in the areas of knowledge and skills in the climate adaptation,” she said.

She explained that the initiative was a timely implementation to address the needs of the people in the communities as well as provide them with the necessary empowerment, which she, however, urged the SIGRA team to fast-track the process to quickly  bring benefits to the community.

Madam Kpedor said that the collaboration with the SIGRA team, and local authorities had further highlighted the importance of working together for community benefit and that such partnerships could lead to more effective and sustainable development projects.

“The aquaculture project is designed to help communities like Fuveme adapt to climate change which is to empower women and provide them sustainable livelihoods, and the project will contribute to building resilience in the face of environmental challenges.”

Mr. Iddrisu Isahaku, the Regional Development Officer of SIGRA, also stated that their main objectives and focused area include climate adaptation projects, gender responsiveness, and empowerment creation.

He said the other goal was to promote and seek the improvement of lives of women and their communities, which would ultimately contribute to more sustainable and resilient development.

Mr. Raphael Agbanavor, the Assembly Member of the area, told the Ghana News Agency that the initiative was important and would enable build stronger hope for women to contribute to the climate adaptation issues in the area.

He commended Madam Sandra Seyram Kpedor, the DCE and the SIGRA team for the special project that would improve their knowledge on how to promote climate resilience in the communities along the coast.

He applauded the contributions and dedications exhibited so far to building a resilient and empowering coastal community projects by some women who were ready to participate in the improvements of the areas.

Some women in the area, GNA engaged expressed, excitement about the leadership skills demonstrated by Madam Seyram Sandra Kpedor by engaging with the community.

They saidshe had demonstrated her commitment to their well-being and the efforts to support local development projects would inspire others to get involved.
