The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Anloga, Sandra Seyram Kpedor, has strongly denied allegations that she is politically obstructing plans to redevelop Hogbe Park into an astro turf facility.
Her response follows claims by a private individual, Torgbui Tenuvi II, who has expressed interest in redeveloping the park and reportedly accused the DCE of frustrating the initiative for political reasons.

However, Madam Kpedor has described the assertions as misleading and unfounded, insisting that she has not been engaged in any discussions regarding the current redevelopment proposal.
“I have not been contacted by anybody or any group of persons regarding the current development at Hogbe Park,” she clarified in a public statement.
According to her, the only time she contributed to activities at the park was several months ahead of the 2025 Hogbetsotso Festival, when she supported the Anlo Dukor Council with equipment to help improve the grounds in preparation for the celebrations.
She stressed that her past assistance was purely developmental and not connected to any ongoing or proposed project concerning the facility.
“Development is what we need in our district, and I will never act as an obstruction to any initiative that seeks to bring progress to our people,” she stated.
Madam Kpedor further urged the public to disregard what she described as rumours suggesting she had attempted to block the redevelopment effort.
“The rumour is completely false and should be disregarded,” she added.
Hogbe Park is a significant cultural and public space in Anloga, traditionally used for community gatherings and activities linked to the annual Hogbetsotso Festival of the Anlo people.
Recent discussions about transforming the park into a modern astro turf facility have generated public debate, with differing views emerging over the ownership, consultation process, and the future use of the land.
While proponents of the project argue that the redevelopment would enhance sports and youth activities in the area, others have called for broader stakeholder engagement to ensure that any modification aligns with community interests and cultural considerations.
The DCE has reiterated her support for development initiatives but emphasised the need for proper consultation and collaboration among stakeholders to avoid misinformation and unnecessary tension.
The matter is expected to require further engagement between traditional authorities, private interests, and the District Assembly to determine the way forward for the use and redevelopment of Hogbe Park.
