Akatsi South records first rainfall of 2026 as Akatsi market-day pattern repeats

Akatsi South recorded its first rainfall of 2026 today, Friday, January 2, following a heavy downpour accompanied by thunder and strong winds that lasted for about one and a half hours.

The intense rainfall, which came with loud thunderclaps and a brief windstorm, caused fear among some residents and disrupted normal activities in parts of the area.

The rain was also recorded in Akatsi, where residents noted that the rainfall coincided with the town’s market day, a pattern they say has historically been observed over the years.

Traders at the Akatsi market reported temporary disruptions as a result of the rain, while some farmers described it as timely and beneficial ahead of the farming season.

No official reports of casualties or major damage had been confirmed at the time of filing this report by Awake News.
