The Member of Parliament(MP) for Akatsi South and First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor, has once again reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to educational transformation in his constituency with the donation of 2,000 brand-new desks to the Akatsi Senior High Technical School (AKAST).
The timely intervention is aimed at addressing the persistent furniture deficit confronting the school while reinforcing government and parliamentary efforts to create a dignified and conducive learning environment for Ghanaian students.
This latest educational investment comes barely a week after Hon. Ahiafor cut sod for the construction of classroom blocks and a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound within the constituency ,a clear testament to what constituents describe as his “holistic development agenda” that prioritizes both education and healthcare delivery.
In a social media post sighted by GhanaWeb, the respected legislator underscored that the donation forms part of his broader vision to eliminate infrastructural bottlenecks and promote quality, inclusive education across Akatsi South.
“As part of my unwavering commitment to expanding access to education and ensuring that schools in my beloved Akatsi South are adequately resourced for effective teaching and learning, I have donated 2,000 desks to the Akatsi Senior High Technical School,” he stated.
Hon. Ahiafor expressed confidence that the intervention would significantly enhance academic comfort, boost morale among students, and ultimately improve academic outcomes.
“It is my firm belief that investing in education is investing in the future of our constituency and nation. This intervention is intended to bridge existing deficits and create a more conducive learning atmosphere for our students,” he added.
The gesture has since attracted widespread commendation from constituents, education stakeholders, and opinion leaders, many of whom have praised the MP’s consistency in translating campaign promises into tangible development outcomes.
AKAST, like several second-cycle institutions nationwide, continues to experience rising enrolment numbers due to expanded access policies, which has intensified pressure on infrastructure and logistics. Education observers believe this intervention will significantly reduce the burden on school authorities and enhance teaching efficiency.
Over the years, Hon. Bernard Ahiafor has distinguished himself not only as a legislator but also as a development-focused leader whose interventions cut across education, healthcare, and social welfare. His sustained grassroots development initiatives continue to strengthen public confidence in responsive and people-centred leadership within the Volta Region.
