The Office of the Member of Parliament for Akatsi North, in collaboration with the Akatsi North District Assembly, is set to undertake a series of sod-cutting ceremonies on February 16, 2026, to commence the construction of key educational infrastructure across several communities in the district.

The exercise forms part of efforts to improve teaching and learning conditions, address classroom deficits, and provide accommodation for teachers within the constituency.

According to the schedule released by the organisers, the projects will begin at Lome-Ghana at 8:00 a.m., where a 3-unit classroom block and a 6-unit teachers’ bungalow with toilet facilities will be constructed at the Lome-Ghana Basic School.

At 10:00 a.m., a similar 6-unit teachers’ bungalow with ancillary facilities will be commissioned for construction at Kpohe Basic School.

The delegation will then proceed to Gboxoxome at 12:00 noon for the sod-cutting of a 2-unit Kindergarten classroom block with ancillary facilities at E.P. Basic School, Ave Afiadenyigba Gboxoxome.

At Nuaxorve, scheduled for 1:30 p.m., two major projects will be launched — a 6-unit classroom block with ancillary facilities and a 6-unit teachers’ bungalow with toilet facilities at Nuaxorve Basic School.

The final ceremony of the day will take place at Ashiagborvi at 3:00 p.m., where a 2-unit Kindergarten block with ancillary facilities will be constructed for the Ashiagborvi Basic School.

Commitment to Education Development

The initiative is being spearheaded by the Member of Parliament for Akatsi North, Hon. Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, together with the District Chief Executive, Hon. Bless Kodjo Katamani.

The projects are expected to ease congestion in classrooms, enhance early childhood education, and improve teacher retention by providing decent accommodation within the beneficiary communities.

Local authorities say the intervention underscores government’s commitment to strengthening educational infrastructure and ensuring that children in the district have access to a conducive learning environment.

Residents, traditional leaders, education stakeholders, and the general public have been invited to witness the ceremonies and support the development agenda aimed at transforming education delivery in Akatsi North.
