The District Chief Executive for Akatsi North, Bless Kodjo Katamani, has joined the Member of Parliament for the Constituency, Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, alongside NDC constituency and branch executives, traditional authorities, and other key stakeholders to perform sod-cutting ceremonies for critical school sanitation projects in the district.
The two separate ceremonies were held at Posmonu Basic School and E.P. Basic School at Ave-Afiadenyigba Old Town, marking the official handover of the project sites to the contractor for commencement of works.
The projects involve the construction of two four-seater water closet (WC) toilet facilities—one at each school—each equipped with a mechanised borehole to ensure reliable water supply. The initiative is aimed at improving sanitation standards while addressing longstanding water challenges confronting the beneficiary schools.
Speaking at the ceremonies, the DCE, Hon. Bless Kodjo Katamani, underscored the Assembly’s commitment to enhancing basic education through improved infrastructure, noting that safe sanitation and access to clean water are essential to pupils’ health, dignity, and academic performance. He urged the contractor to adhere strictly to quality standards and complete the projects within the stipulated timeframe.
For his part, the MP, Hon. Peter Nortsu-Kotoe, reaffirmed his dedication to supporting development initiatives that directly impact teaching and learning outcomes in the constituency. He commended community leaders and stakeholders for their cooperation and called for collective ownership of the facilities upon completion.
The projects are expected to be completed within three months.
