Edem Senanu, Co-Chair of the Citizens Movement Against Corruption (CMAC), has praised Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng for his handling of the Airbus bribery scandal.
He expressed the view that investigating former President Mahama was “an important and bold step… it sets a precedent.”
Mr. Senanu emphasized that it was significant for a sitting President to initiate an investigation into a former President, adding that this sets an important precedent for future investigations.
In response to calls for President Nana Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to face similar scrutiny, Mr. Senanu emphasized that investigations must be based on specific issues that warrant such actions.
He praised the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) for its transparency and thoroughness, particularly highlighting their detailed chronology of events.
Mr. Senanu further argued that the OSP’s report was accurate, as it aligned with the verdicts from both the United States and the United Kingdom.
