Former priestess-turned-evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has appealed her 15-year prison sentence for fraud.
Filed at the Amasaman High Court, the appeal challenges the Accra Circuit Court’s ruling, arguing that the judgment lacked legal support and that Agradaa was denied a fair trial.
According to her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, the trial judge displayed bias, and the sentence handed down was “harsh and excessive.”
Agradaa was convicted on two counts of defrauding by false pretence and sentenced to 15 years each, to be served concurrently. She was also fined GH¢300 for charlatanic advertisement.
The case stems from a 2022 televised broadcast, where Agradaa promised to distribute GH¢300,000 to the needy during a church service but instead collected money from attendees without fulfilling the pledge.
The appeal seeks to reverse the ruling and secure a new hearing, asserting significant procedural flaws in the original trial.
