The Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has given the government a one-week ultimatum to address challenges with conditions of service of its members.
The Association has accused the government of failing to abide by the ruling of the National Labor Commission (NLC) which urged the government to pay the market premium as a percentage of their basic salary.
They are therefore threatening an industrial action if the government refuses to meet their expectation before August 6, 2018.
This was contained in a communiqué issued by the Association after its 4th National Executive Council meeting held in Jirapa in the Upper West Region from July 27 to 28, 2018.
The GMA also accused the government of not fully implementing their condition of service document signed in October 2015.
The Association also bemoaned the “inequitable distribution of critical healthcare staff which has resulted in most deprived communities not receiving the desired standard of care.”
