Africa needs to come together to promote shared prosperity, according to Vice President Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang. She emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among African nations to realize the continent’s economic potential fully.
During her address at the Africa Prosperity Dialogue on February 4, 2026, she stated that Africa’s long-term growth hinges on its countries’ ability to collaborate to create a genuinely integrated economy.
Professor Opoku-Agyemang urged governments to move beyond short-term solutions and focus on developing long- and medium-term policies, establishing robust development finance institutions, and supporting regional projects that align with Africa’s collective goals.
She noted that increased unity would enable African entrepreneurs and manufacturers to view the continent as a cohesive economic space brimming with opportunities.
The Vice President called on policymakers and business leaders to prioritize initiatives that enhance cross-border cooperation and regional integration, asserting that these efforts are essential for fostering sustainable growth.
“We must continue to integrate our borders. Africa must unite; this is not about compromising our sovereignty for the sake of shared prosperity and a stronger continental market,” she stated.
