The Catholic Archdiocese of Accra’s is today leading a protest walk against illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, after it held a “Service of Preparation” at the Holy Spirit Cathedral.

During the service of preparation, Rev. Father Godwin Fiawoyi, SVD, called for divine intervention in the fight against ‘galamsey’.
The protestors include members of the Accra Catholic Archdiocese, and members of the public calling on government to ban illegal and protect environment.
They believe that only a complete ban on illegal mining, will safeguard the water bodies, forest reserves and farmlands for the future.
