Kwame Baffoe
Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe, popularly known as Abronye, says he is prepared to meet Joyce Bawah Mogtari in court following her demand for an apology and GH₵10 million in damages over alleged defamatory comments.
Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to President John Dramani Mahama, through her lawyers, had issued a legal notice accusing Abronye of making false and damaging claims about her during an appearance on Net 2 TV.
Among the claims was that she rejected a ministerial position in favor of a stress-free aide role with a monthly salary of GH₵95,000, a statement her team has vehemently denied.
But responding on Movement TV, Abronye remained defiant. He insisted he will use the court to demand that Mogtari explains her source of income, particularly in relation to what he described as a growing collection of luxury handbags.
“She will account for every bag she has bought,” Abronye said. “In just three months, she has purchased bags worth more than $2,000 each. I will ask for receipts in court.”
He also made controversial remarks suggesting that if compensation was the issue, she should have demanded GH₵100 million instead of ten. Abronye further alleged that Ghanaians deserve to know how public servants like Mogtari are spending taxpayer money.
The unfolding legal battle is drawing public attention, raising questions around accountability, privacy, and the tone of political discourse in Ghana.
